My Top 5 Obsessions This Week
Greetings to all of my semi constant readers. It has been a hectic few weeks with lots of events and here are some of my favorites.
1) Taylor Swift Reputation Tour at Levi Stadium was the second stop of the tour. It was an amazing night . Opening the night the talented Charli XCX and the super hot Camila Cabello. But from the opening number "Are You Ready for it?" Swift held the audience in the palm of her hand. A super tight set of 25 songs showcased her considerable catalogue of music. And there were snakes!!!! Everywhere !! This is the tour of the summer.
2) The Human League North American Tour began with a bang at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco. Opening for them Book of Love featuring Ted and Susan Ottaviano performed their hits I Touch Roses and Boy and my favorite Modigliani- (Lost in Your Eyes). The Human League featuring Phil Oakey, Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley brought the adoring fans to a frenzy through a dizzy tour of their hits with great stage production and manic energy. They have never sounded or looked better. From Mirror Man to Don't You Want Me to Human and ending the night with Electric Dreams it was the perfect perfect ending to the perfect night.
3) San Francisco's Premiere Head over Heels featuring hits from the GoGos just left its sold out performances in the Curran Theatre to head to Broadway. This fantastic production is a punk mashup of the Philip Sidney Arcadia from the 1500's. This comedic tale of cross dressing, mistaken identities and the love that dared to speak it's name several times over features Rupaul's Drag Race superstar Peppermint in a featured role with all the favorite GoGos music like Our Lips Our Sealed , We Got The Beat, Vacation and others. The night we went we got to meet our local girl Jane Weidlin at the theater. Remember Wicked premiered here as well so lets keep our fingers crossed.
4) Trog Live- The Musical at Oasis was a pleasure to watch and with the genius performances by everyone at the cast including the luminous Matthew Martin as Joan Crawford as Dr. Brockton who i would see in just about anything. He raises every show he is in. The story of an anthropologist who discovers the primitive troglodyte and tries to communicate with him . The whole cast was hilarious but Sara Moore was a revelation. I have never seen her in anything before and I want to see more. Every word or expression was pure comedy.
5) Tokyo in 48 hours - No it is not a show but it was an fever dream of neon lights from the city that never turns off. From the handmade Udon Noodles at Shin Udon in Shinjuku to the Harajuku experience of walking through a candy colored snowglobe of food, fashion and cotton candy clouds to the Hedgehog Cafe and the crazy bars and Godzilla topped Gramercy Hotel and the Genki Sushi futurama sonic sushi experience. I am ready to go back now.
