My Top 5 Obsessions This Week

Greetings to all my semi constant readers. It has been a busy week in Cancun soaking up the sun with close friends and eating some fabulous meals and gazing at technicolor sunsets.

I) Arriving at the Westin property Lagunamar Ocean Resort Villas & Spa it is easy to see why this is such a popular destination. Luxurious, outstanding views and a huge infinity pool overlooking the beautiful turquoise Caribbean Sea. Across the street is the upscale Isla Mall and amazing restaurants are minutes away.

2) A favorite jewel of a restaurant is La Habichuala Sunset a Mayan restaurant located right on the water. Amazing sunsets and the dishes are as well. The Duck Panuchos with black beans , the Chicken Mole rich and velvety and the largest Coconut Shrimp I have ever seen. End the night with a ruby red sunset  on the lagoon and a Mayan Coffee.

3) La Madonna Ristorante  looks like an oversized movie set with delicious Italian food. A cool decor and huge atmosphere. Go for the Gnocchi and seafood and hang out for the chill music and choice of over 100 Martinis.

4) Isla Mujeres is a world away from Cancun. Or a 22 minute ferry ride. Rent a golf cart to take a measured journey across this beautiful island. The jaw dropping ocean views are breathtaking and watching the Iguanas frolicking on the rocks , you feel like you are away from the hustle and bustle of Cancun. We stopped at Tortugranja to see some of the majestic turtles up close and personal. Then a beachside lunch at Zama Restaurant Beach Club. Chilmole Calamari Rings flavored with black beans and spicy Mole and fish Pescadillas with an ice cold Sol beer hit the spot. We finished off with a dip in the azure calm water to cool off and back on the ferry to Cancun. 

5) One of the best Italian restaurants I have been to outside of Italy is Cenacolo IL Ristorante Italiano. Impeccable service, pink sunset and delicious Italian food. Are you seeing a trend here? Ice cold Serrano Margaritas and seafood bruschetta to start. A nice Italian white wine with a lovely homemade pasta . Famous "Green Hats" ricotta filled delicious morsels sautéed in butter and sage. Melt in your mouth desserts while watching the huge sun settle down to sleep. You will never want to leave this heaven.
